Downtown New Port Richey’s past came to life on November 5 during the first Tides of Time: History After Dark.

Thirty-three guests gathered at Sims Park before departing in staggered groups on an evening journey through the Tides of Time sculpture collection. At each stop, a volunteer shared a brief history of the people, places, and moments represented by the sculpture, allowing guests to experience the stories of New Port Richey in a new and memorable way.

Unlike a traditional guided walking tour, volunteers were stationed at each sculpture to welcome the groups as they arrived. This format gave each stop its own storyteller and allowed guests time to see the artwork while learning more about the history that inspired it.

The tours concluded in Cavalaire Square, where guests enjoyed light bites prepared by Main Munchery and live music performed by violinist Chloe Waara. Author Gary Vitacco-Robles also joined the evening for a special book signing, offering guests another opportunity to connect with the stories and history of the community.

New Port Richey Main Street extends a special thank-you to lead volunteers Robin Wohl, Scott Wohl, and NeNe Peters, whose time and leadership helped make the evening possible. We are also grateful to every volunteer who welcomed guests, shared the history at each sculpture, assisted with setup and breakdown, and helped guide the evening from Sims Park to Cavalaire Square.

The event also offered an opportunity to recognize the original Founding Investors of the Tides of Time project. Their support transformed an ambitious idea into 11 bronze sculptures that preserve and share New Port Richey’s history throughout Downtown. History After Dark was possible because they first helped bring Tides of Time to life.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this first evening spotlight. Based on the enthusiasm of our guests and volunteers, this may not be the last time Downtown’s history comes to life after dark.
