This past Saturday, New Port Richey Main Street put $2,000 directly into the hands of local shoppers — and straight into the registers of our downtown businesses — through our Main Street Bucks giveaway during Small Business Saturday.
With summer bringing slower foot traffic for many local shops, restaurants, and boutiques, this initiative was designed to jump-start the holiday shopping season and remind our community just how important it is to support the small businesses that make Downtown NPR so special.
And it worked.
From the moment the giveaway kicked off, downtown came alive with shoppers exploring storefronts, grabbing coffee, trying new restaurants, and discovering favorite finds — all while redeeming Main Street Bucks like real cash at participating locations.
Why Main Street Bucks Matter
Main Street Bucks are simple:
✔️ They spend just like money at participating downtown businesses
✔️ They’re reimbursed by Main Street to the businesses at full value
✔️ They help bring both new and familiar faces through the doors
By giving away $2,000 in Bucks, we aimed to directly support our small businesses during what’s historically a soft season — especially with construction, heat, and summer travel impacting the flow of visitors.
This program helped level the playing field and brought a welcomed boost just in time for the holidays.
